Matthew Lettington

MA, LMFT

About Matt

Matt is available at both the Muscatine and Bettendorf locations and is a Marriage and Family Therapist with 23 years of counseling experience in private practice. He believes the most important thing you will read on this page is this: "I will never deny that I am a Biblical Christian Counselor but if you are not looking for that approach I will not cram God down your throat. I will be an honest and directive therapist that will not sugar-coat the counseling process…I believe the best approach as a therapist is 'Be Honest not Nice!!!' (Nice will avoid the necessary difficult conversation)."

Matt's Favorite Counseling Perspective

Reality Therapy- Now you’re talking!!!

It focuses on the present rather than the past, emphasizing personal responsibility, choice, and current behavior. This approach which posits that humans are driven by five basic internal needs: survival, love and belonging, power, freedom, and fun.

According to this approach, people cannot control how others act, but

they can control their own behavior and choices!

Matt will dabble in a wide variety of tools that will help you find a greater level

of success in your life and you relationships. He loves books written by John

Gottman or Don Miguel Ruiz for example but, he says, "don’t be surprised if I

encourage a Pinterest search or You Tube video to educate or motivate".

Matt is the counselor for you if you are seeking to…

A. Prevent a divorce.

B. Work to improve intimacy (emotionally, spiritually, financially or

Physically etc.) in your relationship.

C. Process discouragement/Disillusionment as a teen or an Grandparent

D. Exhausted and looking for meaning and purpose in your life.

E. Lost in the despair of loneliness and brokenness.

F. Traumatized by a very harmful experience(s).

H. Depressed…Anxious…PTSD…etc.

Matt's Note

In the process of Loving their Neighbor as you Love yourself, you may wonder how does that work?

If you are looking for a positive, caring, experienced counselor that will share your desire to feel so good about the process that you want to fire him because you are experiencing a greater level of confidence, yeah that

would be me.

About Susanne
Susanne is available at the Muscatine location and specializes in providing professional counseling services that grow out of a holistic Christian perspective. Susanne believes that by offering an approach that considers all areas of an individual’s life, including physical, social, psychological, and spiritual assessments, a more comprehensive and personal application of services can result. The foundation from which Susanne works allows individuals to be an active part of their own therapeutic journey. She believes that in giving clients a voice in the process of developing treatment plans and goals, consideration can be provided for their own unique gifts, abilities, and needs.

Susanne served beside her husband in ministry for 15 years and experienced first hand the many situations individuals and families are often faced with. It was in reaching out to hurting women, adolescents and children during this time that Susanne developed a passion for working with the unique challenges and struggles these individuals are faced with. As a result of dealing with and working through her own painful life experiences, Susanne desires to see individuals set free from their own pain, trauma, and woundedness. She seeks to provide a safe place in which others can feel comfortable in sharing their own unique journey. In doing so, individuals can begin to find greater strength, healing, and freedom to live the life they so long for.
